If someone were to hypothetically, fail in 12th standard exams, then he/she will have to give supplementary exams. If he fails in those too then he is allotted grace marks according to the criteria of his/her board. In CBSE you have the added benefit that all PREVIOUS YEAR's exam marks are wiped away.
